A brand new tour of the Cavern Club is launching next week. The free tour will allow visitors to take a peek behind the scenes at the famous Mathew Street venue.
For the first time in the club’s 62-year history, Beatles fans can enjoy a 45-minute tour ‘behind the curtain’ to see what happens backstage.
Led by guide Dale Roberts, the free tour will run every weekday morning except Wednesdays.
Dale said: “This is the first time the public will have been given a peep behind the scenes at the Cavern. It will be very informal and intimate – I want everyone on the tour to feel they are getting an experience that’s personal to them.”
The unique tour will start in the main room, and will then move up to ground level where people will learn more about the history of Mathew Street itself.
Then there is the chance to re-enter the Cavern through the original entrance – which is usually closed to the general public – before getting up on the front stage for a photo.
The tour will also take in the dressing rooms, the club’s van bay used by some of the biggest acts in the world and their entourages, and the Live Lounge.
Tours take place at 10.30am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and are free.
