James, the youngest child and only son of Paul McCartney, has released a new track called “Primrose Hill,” co-written with Sean, the youngest son of John Lennon.
The acoustic ballad, named for an idyllic park in Camden overlooking London’s Regent’s Park, was inspired by a vision James had as a child on a summer day in Scotland.
James wrote on social media. “Today, I am very excited to share my latest song, co-written by my good friend Sean Ono Lennon. With the release of this song, it feels like we’re really getting the ball rolling, and I am so excited to continue to share music with you.”
Paul has made sure to share the track across his social media accounts, as well as sending “lots of love to Sean Ono Lennon, who co-wrote the song.”
“Primrose Hill” is James McCartney’s first collaboration with Sean Ono Lennon, and his second release this year, following “Beautiful” in February, his first new music since his second album in 2016. His newer releases are distributed by earthprogram, the industry firm founded by A&R vets and identical twins Jason Jordan and Joel T. Jordan, in a distribution and IP protection collaboration with Virgin Music.
