George Harrison will be honored with an official blue plaque from the U.K. government, one of the first to be located outside of London.
The blue plaque outside London will be dedicated to the music icon, songwriter and humanitarian George Harrison, the plaque will be unveiled in the coming months.

Geroge who was born on 25 February 1943, lived at 12 Arnold Grove in the Wavertree area of Liverpool until he was seven.
Duncan Wilson, Chief Executive of Historic England, said: “Our national blue plaques scheme is a fantastic opportunity to tell the stories of inspirational people, who have helped make the world a better place. Blue plaques are well known and loved. They help people and communities feel pride and connection to their local and national heritage.”
The London blue plaques scheme was started in 1866 and is thought to be the oldest of its kind in the world. English Heritage has run the London blue plaques scheme since 1986 It has inspired many similar schemes in the UK and around the world.

The plaque will be installed on the wall of 12 Arnold Grove, in the Wavertree area of Liverpool. Harrison was born at the home on February 25, 1943. He lived there with his parents and three siblings until he was seven years old.

The plaque will be the first to be installed outside of London as part of the English Heritage blue plaques scheme. The scheme honors people who have made a significant contribution to British culture.

The plaque will be unveiled at a ceremony on a date to be announced.

It will be made of ceramic and will measure 12 inches by 8 inches.
It will feature a portrait of Harrison and a brief inscription about his life and career.
The plaque will be installed on the front of the house, next to the front door.
