There’s a British Invasion coming to Green Bay. Ahead of the highly anticipated Paul McCartney concert at Lambeau Field Saturday, the city of Green Bay is adding some British flare to its downtown, the city temporarily turned City Deck Court into Abbey Road, the iconic Beatles album.
Complete with a road sign and vintage parked cars, visitors can recreate for their own Abbey Road photos between The Flats on the Fox and CityDeck Landing Apartments. But the British touches don’t stop there. CityDeck will be decorated in British theme, leading up to the city’s 10th season premiere of Friday’s on the Fox. This week, The BriTins, a Beatles tribute band, will be playing the free concert from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
“It’s super exciting anytime someone big like Paul McCartney comes to Green Bay. The entire community benefits from those tourism dollars, so we’ve got people coming, staying at our hotels, eating at our restaurants, checking out our great local shops and boutiques and it’s just great to get that funding source,” said Kathryn Kroll, Downtown Green Bay Inc. marketing manager.
The Abbey Road sign will stay up through the weekend, turning back to CityDeck Court on Monday. The Titletown District is also getting in on all the British fun. Another Beatles tribute band, BritBeat, will perform a free concert in the Titletown Plaza Friday night from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fish and chips will be available for purchase.
