Paul McCartney recently released a new live studio album titled One Hand Clapping. Paul recorded the set nearly 50 years ago as part of a grander project, but he and his band Wings never shared it. Instead, it sat in a vault somewhere, just waiting to reach his fans.

One Hand Clapping was finally unveiled earlier this month, after much anticipation. The set became a big hit immediately on a number of Billboard charts in America, as plenty of McCartney’s fans rushed to pick up a copy. The title brings him back to the top 10 on a pair of rankings, as it sold very well upon its arrival.

McCartney and Wings’ latest launches at No. 8 on the Top Album Sales chart. That’s the title’s loftiest placement this week on any Billboard tally, which makes sense, as it was a bestseller from the moment it dropped. In its first seven-day tracking period of availability in the U.S., One Hand Clapping sold just over 12,500 copies.
Is the fifth-highest debut on the Top Album Sales chart. Paul comes in behind the latest projects from Nayeon (No. 1), $uicideboy$ (No. 3), Don Toliver (No. 4), and Luke Combs (No. 6).
Over on the Vinyl Albums chart, One Hand Clapping also manages a top 10 start. On that format-specific roster, McCartney and Wings open at No. 10, barely managing to enter the highest tier on the tally.

On that roster, Paul and his band earn the seventh-loftiest start. They’re beaten by $uicideboy$ (No. 1), the first and second Twilight soundtracks (Nos. 2 and 4, respectively), Nayeon (No. 6), The Decemberists (No. 7), and Hermanos Gutierrez (No. 9).

According to Forbes , One Hand Clapping marks Paul’s thirteenth top 10 on both aforementioned charts. The Grammy winner last reached the highest region on the pair back in 2021. That year, both McCartney III and McCartney III Reimagined reached the loftiest space on the lists.
In addition to both the Vinyl Albums and Top Album Sales chart, One Hand Clapping also manages to debut on three other Billboard rosters: the Top Rock Albums, Top Rock & Alternative Albums, and, of course, the Billboard 200.
