Ringo: “Great first show at The Joint – Tulsa. Sold out to an awesome crowd. Thank you…! R***”

Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band performed at the Hard Rock. The two-hour show (sold out)(longer than most at the venue) was a slice of this, a slice of that and mostly a lot of fun.

The lineup has changed many times over the years. The current roster: Gregg Rollie (Journey, Santana), Colin Hay (Men at Work), Steve Lukather (Toto) and Graham Gouldman (10cc), plus Warren Ham (has toured with Kansas, Toto and Olivia Newton-John) and Gregg Bissonette (played drums for David Lee Roth and others).
Ringo said at the start of the show: “Ready to have some fun? Would you like to hear some good music. You’re in the right place.”

Rollie dove into Santana’s discography for “Evil Ways,” “Oye Como Va” and “Black Magic Woman,” which he described as his favorite song to sing.Gouldman began with a tune (“Dreadlock Holiday”) that he said was a big hit everywhere except the U.S. (it peaked at No. 44) The crowd needed no introduction to “I’m Not in Love” and “The Things We Do for Love.” Hay performed Men at Work’s three biggest U.S. hits — “Down Under,” “Overkill” and “Who Can It Be Now?”And Lukather offered up “Rosanna,” “Africa” and “Hold the Line.”

Ringo headed to center stage at the start of the show to perform vocals for three songs, including his first solo top-10 single, “It Don’t Come Easy.” then retreated to his drums (someone in the crowd yelled, “You were always my favorite”) and occasionally returned to the forefront for vocal chores.
A mid-show sub-set by Starr included “Boys,” and “Don’t Pass Me By.” Ringo said: “If you don’t know the name of this (next) song, you’re in the wrong venue.” The All-Starr Band then offered a teaser of the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” before Starr sang “Yellow Submarine.”

Also among Ringo’s contributions were “You’re Sixteen” (his cover of the song went to No. 1 in 1973), “Act Naturally”,“Photograph”(a No. 1 single in ‘73) and “With a Little Help From My Friends”.
