On October 29th, LA theatregoers were delighted to hear Ringo in conversation with filmmaker David Lynch and photographer Henry Diltz talking about his new book, Another Day In The Life.
Taking inspiration from the book, the three discussed, amongst other subjects, how to take great photos; the peace, love and happiness that comes from meditation; the “adventure” that was Woodstock; and how when musician friends are in town, they drop in to his home recording studio to jam – “if they ring the bell, they are on the record”.
For Beatles fans, highlights included hearing anecdotes about his old bandmates. Ringo revealed how he was “the man with the camera in the band”. He spoke about George Harrison helping him finish his songs, and how touched he was on hearing a demo recording of John Lennon singing “Grow Old with Me”, and suggesting he should sing it (the track is now on his latest album “What’s My Name” ). He also told how incredible Paul McCartney is at playing bass guitar, and that he was the logical choice for the “What’s My Name“ recording.
