AN EVENING WITH THE QUARRYMEN: AUGUST 28

An Evening with the Quarrymen and Friends. The Quarrymen , John Lennon´s original band is playing a concert at the St Peter’s Church Hall, located in Woolton, Liverpool, L25 5JF on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Founding musicians Rod Davis and Colin Hanton are set to present a 150-minute set (2.5-hour) showfeaturing skiffle and rock ‘n’ roll classics from the 1950s.

The August event at the church hall is an intimate, seated concert with a dance floor.. will ‘get back’ to where it all began, when they play a special concert in St Peter’s Church Hall, Woolton – just as they did on July 6, 1957, on the day that John met Paul and the Lennon-McCartney partnership began.

The current Quarrymen lineup consists of Colin Hanton on drums—who performed alongside John, Paul, and George—as well as Rod Davis, who currently plays guitar and served as the group’s banjo player when John and Paul were first introduced. They are joined by keyboardist Henry Lowe, the son of John Duff Lowe, who contributed piano to the 1958 track “In Spite of All the Danger,” and bassist David Bedford.

Beyond enjoying fantastic music—with potential opportunities for audience participation—attendees will hear the band members recount tales and anecdotes from their storied past, with frequent intervals for Q&A sessions.

While the venue features general admission seating, there will be plenty of space for those who wish to dance. A small variety of non-alcoholic beverages will be offered for sale, though guests are invited to bring their own refreshments of any kind. Furthermore, patrons can buy special band merchandise and take advantage of photo and autograph sessions.
