On April 6, 1965, The Beatles launched their eighth official extended play, titled Beatles for Sale, which featured four songs taken directly from their 1964 long-player of the same title.

Distributed under the catalogue number Parlophone GEP 8931 and released exclusively in mono, the record also reached markets in Australia and India.

The EP made its chart debut on April 10, climbing to the number one position by April 24, where it dominated for five weeks before returning to the top spot for an additional week in mid-June. Much like their earlier projects, the packaging included liner notes penned by Tony Barrow, the band’s publicist.

While the EP saw great success, its predecessor—the full-length album released the previous December—had already set a staggering pace, flying off record store shelves so quickly during the holiday season that it established itself as one of the most rapidly selling albums across the globe.
