A momentous piece of music history is heading to the auction block as the legal document that officially terminated the Beatles‘ partnership prepares to sell for a projected six-figure sum.

This 1974 memorandum, which formally dissolved the Fab Four’s collective obligations and resolved royalty conflicts regarding John Lennon and George Harrison’s solo work, is expected to exceed $100,000 at Goldin’s upcoming auction.

While the band’s business ties weren’t fully severed in court until early 1975, this two-page agreement represents the definitive moment Paul, John, George, and Ringo finally closed the door on their era-defining collaboration.

The path to this final signature was famously long and fraught. Though John Lennon had privately exited the group as early as 1969, the public didn’t learn of the split until McCartney’s 1970 announcement.

Legal gridlock over earnings and songwriting rights persisted for years, largely because the dissolution required all four members to sign in person—a demand Lennon resisted for quite some time.

The stalemate finally broke on December 29, 1974, when John Lennon added his signature while vacationing at Walt Disney World in Florida with son Julian and then-girlfriend May Pang, that all band member signatures were obtained.
