Notable stars in the crowd included John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison.
No pictures or video footage of George have surfaced; Reports suggest he was hesitant to appear in public and successfully evaded the cameras.
A major highlight of the gala featured Barbra Streisand performing tracks requested by callers and attendees in return for contributions. By the conclusion of the evening, the total sum collected reached $50,000.
