John Lennon owned a Honda Z50A “Monkey Bike” which he used and enjoyed around his Tittenhurst Park estate. Following Lennon’s move to New York in August 1971, the bike eventually came to auction in 2018.
It was sold in running order with matching frame and engine numbers, remaining largely original and unrestored. The sale included an extensive history file featuring the original green log book, old MOT certificates, and an official Honda dating letter, among other documentation.
John Lennon’s iconic 1969 Honda Z50A Monkey Bike recently shattered expectations at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.
Auctioned by H&H Classics, the bike—which Lennon famously rode around his Tittenhurst Park estate between 1969 and 1971—fetched a hammer price of £56,250.
Once the 12.5% buyer’s premium was applied, the final tally reached a staggering £63,281, comfortably eclipsing the initial £20,000–£40,000 estimate.
