This is the Q&A session that took place yesterday at the Curzon Mayfair in London. The panel featured Arthur Cary, director of the documentary; Naomi Jones, lead investigator of the “Lost Bass Project”; Katherine Anstey, producer (from Passion Pictures); and Steve Glenister, a close collaborator and expert involved in the search.

The film, titled McCartney: The Hunt for the Lost Bass (which had the working title The Beatle and the Bass during production), chronicles the incredible odyssey of the 1961 Höfner 500/1 bass. The instrument was stolen from a van in Notting Hill in 1972 and was finally recovered in 2024 following a global campaign.

The documentary features testimonies from Paul McCartney, his brother Mike McCartney, musician Elvis Costello, and artist and long-time Beatles friend Klaus Voormann.

Following this limited theatrical release (April 2nd and 4th), it is scheduled to air on BBC Two and will be available on BBC iPlayer starting April 11, 2026.
