Paul McCartney spoke in a recent interview with his own website and talk about the story behind his decision on being a vegetarian.
In the conversation, Paul recalled the day when he was eating dinner with his late wife Linda McCartney on a farm, and they realized that they are eating the lambs that are chilling on the outside.
While Paul was saying that they didn’t really like that, he also revealed that the idea of going vegetarian went out from Linda, in which she said that they should try to go vegetarian.
Furthermore, Paul cleared the air about being a vegetarian and mentioned that it is not hard as people think. He pointed out that you can find lots of veggies right now and said that it is a great thing to do.
Interviewer asked:
“Going back to when you originally became veggie, do you think you were influenced by Linda? Do you think you would have gone veggie if you hadn’t met her?”
Paul McCartney said:
“It was a joint decision, definitely. We were both quite happy eating meat, because she was a great cook, and we didn’t really think about it until we were on the farm one day eating a lamb dinner and both realized that the lambs outside were what we were eating.
We didn’t like that! We said, ‘Shall we try going vegetarian?’ And actually, it was a very exciting point in our lives, trying to think of what we would have to fill the hole in the middle of the plate.
Now, of course, it’s really not difficult at all. You just go down the shops and most places will have great veggie options. It was a joint decision and we never looked back. It was a great thing to do, and it turned out we became part of a vegetarian revolution.”
Later in the conversation, Paul talked about Linda McCartney Foods team’s new project, Grow Your Own, and showed how excited he is to explain the kids where these foods are coming from.
