Ringo Starr, is shifting his focus from his recent September All Starr Band concerts to finalizing his next studio project. This album, a sequel to his 2025 country-infused record, Look Up, is being crafted once again with the distinguished producer, songwriter, and musician T Bone Burnett.
Ringo currently anticipates a February 2026 launch for the new release, though he did caution that this date isn’t set in stone.
“We’re both quite busy,” Ringo noted, “and we plan to dive into the recording process this October. How long that takes is uncertain, so let’s not rush. The tentative release is February, but the record label might, you know, decide to move it up. They might ask, ‘Could we actually have it on January 19th?’ We’ll just have to wait and see.”
Ringo mentioned his time has been packed, simultaneously preparing for the All Starr Band tour and working on the new recording. This included “writing a few songs” for the country project, playing drums on every track, and singing every track—it’s been a significant amount of work.
During a recent press event, Ringo revealed that the album will feature a cover of a song by the late rockabilly icon Carl Perkins. He elaborated on the choice in a separate interview:
“I’ve recorded a rendition of another Carl Perkins song for the new country album because T Bone loves the fact that the first two songs I sang on Beatles records were by Carl Perkins,” Starr explained, referring to “Matchbox” and “Honey Don’t.” “I always loved his music because it was like a mix of country and rock.”
The Perkins track chosen for the new album, however, is “a little sadder.” Ringo confessed he’d never heard it before, and neither had Burnett, stating, “But it’s beautiful. [Perkins] was such a brilliant writer.”
Ringo also fondly recalled performing with Perkins, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, and others on a 1986 U.K. TV special called Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session, encouraging fans to seek it out online.
The new, yet-to-be-titled album will follow Look Up, Ringo’s first full-length album in over five years, which was released in January 2025 and featured guest appearances from artists like Alison Krauss, Molly Tuttle, and Joe Walsh. The Look Up project was also produced by Burnett.🟠Would you like to support the page with a donation? Enter HERE
