“Spinal Tap” is the great rock and roll film, the sequel “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” features appearances: Paul McCartney, Elton John , Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, Questlove and more. The sequel brings the bandmembers, who are now well past retirement age, together for one more concert. It’s not because they want to — the bandmembers hadn’t spoken in 15 years, for a reason that becomes clear late in the film — but because of a contractual obligation. Paul McCartney makes a cameo appearance and does pretty well.
Paul McCartney appears in the highly anticipated sequel to 1984’s cult classic “This Is Spinal Tap,” dropping by for a session with the band. McCartney is also one of several musical luminaries who appear on the soundtrack. Best to think of this movie as a reunion tour; one last hurrah with the band you love.
“We were rehearsing for a tour in 2009, and we hadn’t even picked up our instruments in our room, and the door opens,” Shearer told. “And fortunately it was Paul McCartney.
And we were like (stammering), you know? And finally he says, ‘Give us a song, fellas.’ And we did.”“We did a Rolling Stones cover,” McKean added.
“This Is Spinal Tap” was a groundbreaking mockumentary, chronicling fictional band Spinal Tap on a disastrous tour, while filmmaker Marty DiBergi, played by Reiner, follows the group.
