Ringo and his All-Starr band will perform at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on Aug.16.
Bethel Woods in Sullivan County sites on the site of the original Woodstock Music and Art Fair, which was held on Aug. 15-18, 1969.
“I always love playing Bethel Woods,” Ringo said in a release from Bethel Woods, and how great to do it this year on the anniversary of Woodstock. I wasn’t there at the first one, but I’ve always promoted what it stood for — Peace, and Love and Music,” he said.
The concert is one of three scheduled events to celebrate the anniversary that weekend at Bethel Woods.
On Aug. 15, an updated version of the Academy Award-winning Woodstock documentary will be screened on the famous field where it was filmed nearly 50 years ago. The original film was released in 1970 and won the Oscar for feature documentary. “Woodstock: The Director’s Cut” will be shown in August.
On Aug. 17, Carlos Santana, who delivered a breakout performance at the original Woodstock concert, will perform. The Edgar Winter Band and Arlo Guthrie, Woodstock alumni, will be joining Starr and his band.

The original Woodstock festival five decades ago attracted hundreds of thousands of people to Sullivan County for live music from multiple acts that included Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who and the Grateful Dead. In celebration of the anniversary, Bethel Woods has planned what it calls “A Season of Song & Celebration.”
