On the nineteenth day of the Get Back/Let It Be sessions, The Beatles focused on polishing the material that would eventually comprise their final studio release. The day was marked by extensive work on “I’ve Got a Feeling,” including an experimental 15-minute version featuring a three-chord coda and various takes with John Lennon taking the lead.

The band also successfully tracked the single version of “Don’t Let Me Down,” though it would later receive additional vocal overdubs at Abbey Road. Meanwhile, “Get Back” saw seven distinct passes, one of which provided the coda used for the official single.

Regarding George Harrison’s contributions, the group revisited “Old Brown Shoe” from the day before and witnessed the debut of his future masterpiece, “Something.” While Lennon and McCartney appeared engaged in developing that particular track, they showed significantly less interest in “All Things Must Pass,” a song that had remained untouched since earlier in the month.

During this session, John Lennon debuted the heavy riffs of “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” while the band also ran through two iterations of “Teddy Boy” and a revival of Lennon’s “Child Of Nature.” The rehearsals included a fleeting, one-minute attempt at “The Inner Light” and a sluggish rendition of “Love Me Do” that struggled to find its rhythm. Many of the day’s highlights—including takes of “Something,” “I’ve Got A Feeling,” and the obscure “Half A Pound Of Greasepaint”—eventually reached a wider audience when they were featured in the third installment of Peter Jackson’s 2021 documentary, Get Back.
