On the twentieth day of the Get Back/Let It Be sessions, the Beatles finally committed to staging a rooftop concert at their Apple headquarters the very next day. While George Harrison remained the lone skeptic, the rest of the band embraced the plan, leaving the film crew and studio technicians to finalize the logistics.

Although the five core songs intended for the roof—”Get Back,” “Don’t Let Me Down,” “I’ve Got A Feeling,” “One After 909,” and “Dig A Pony”—were each rehearsed once, the bulk of the session was dedicated to refining other material. This included work on “Two Of Us,” “The Long And Winding Road,” and “Let It Be,” alongside several tracks that would eventually be left off the final album.

In an apparent effort to find a cinematic fit for Harrison’s songwriting, the group revisited “For You Blue” and ran through several unpolished versions of “Something,” “All Things Must Pass,” “Let It Down,” and “Old Brown Shoe.”

The session also featured early attempts at the future Abbey Road heavy-hitter “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” a rendition of “Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues” (later featured on Anthology 3), and a performance of “Besame Mucho” that would eventually appear in the Let It Be documentary.
