Omega Auctions has scheduled the piece to go under the hammer on September 29, carrying a projected price tag of £70,000 to £100,000.

Standing nearly 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall, the bronze creation by late artist Laura Lian is cast with a striking green patina and fixed securely onto a combined steel and bronze foundation.

Officially titled the John Lennon Peace Statue, the life-size artwork portrays the legendary musician casually leaning against a peace symbol inscribed with the word “Imagine.

Since August 2022, the sculpture has stood proudly outside St Barnabas Church along Liverpool‘s famous Penny Lane, backed by the local community initiative known as the Penny Lane Development Trust.

Though its initial display was only scheduled for a half-year residency, the sculpture extended its stay significantly; once purchased, the current original will be swapped out for an identical replica.
