John Lennon would be turning 86 today.

More than four decades after his passing in 1980, John remains a cultural beacon whose relevance goes far beyond 1960s and 70s nostalgia.

October 9 is no ordinary day in the history of music. Today marks another anniversary of the birth of John Lennon, an individual who transformed modern popular culture and forever changed the way we understand mainstream music.

More than four decades after his passing, John’s figure has not remained trapped in the past or in nostalgic remembrance. His work, his ideas, and his pursuit of authenticity remain fully relevant today.

His legacy both with The Beatles and throughout his solo career remains alive and constantly evolving. Thanks to advances in audio restoration through artificial intelligence, unfinished tracks like “Now and Then” could be completed, returning John’s voice to the top of global charts and bringing his catalog to new generations via streaming platforms.

The possibility that unreleased sketches, demos, or lost tracks may still exist keeps alive the hope of continuing to discover flashes of his creativity. Hopefully, his legacy will continue to grow as new unreleased tracks, demos, or songs he never finished or released might one day see an official release.

Songs like “Imagine,” “Give Peace a Chance,” and “Working Class Hero” remain deeply relevant in today’s social discourse. In a world marked by geopolitical tensions and armed conflicts, John’s lyrics continue to resonate at protests, charity events, and global peace ceremonies as a collective call for empathy.

John Lennon was among the first pop musicians to shatter the mold of the “perfect teen idol,” openly exposing his contradictions, vulnerabilities, and political stance. That raw approach to mental health, love, and personal discovery helped shape the modern singer-songwriter.

Landmarks like Strawberry Fields in Central Park (New York) and his hometown of Liverpool remain daily pilgrimage sites for thousands of fans of all ages seeking to pay tribute to his “Peace and Love” philosophy.

Happy Birthday dear John!
