Paul McCartney at Nationwide Arena, Columbus November 08 2025.

Stepping onto the stage, Paul McCartney greeted the crowd with a smile and a wave before launching into the powerful, familiar opening chords of “Help!” While an absolute staple for Beatles enthusiasts, this tune was a fresh addition to his current live repertoire.

McCartney had incorporated “Help!” into his performances earlier this year, marking the first time he had played it in its entirety on a tour since 1965.

The concert unfolded as McCartney acted as a musical time traveler, guiding the audience through various eras of his career. The setlist featured stops in the 1960s (including “I’ve Just Seen A Face”), the ’70s (“Let ‘Em In”), the ’80s (“Coming Up”), and even recent work from this century (such as “Come On To Me” from 2018 and the 2023 Grammy-winning reassembled Beatles track, “Now & Then”). Naturally, the performance included many of his legendary anthems—after all, what’s a McCartney show without a collective singalong to “Maybe I’m Amazed”?—but he also dug deep into less-frequently heard parts of his extensive catalog.

Before performing “Love Me Do,” he transported the audience back to 1958 for a pared-down rendition of “In Spite Of All The Danger.” This was a song recorded by The Quarrymen, McCartney’s pre-Beatles group with John Lennon and George Harrison. Moments later, he paid tribute to his 1970 self-titled solo album with a simple, personal performance of “Every Night.”

After a short break, he and his band returned for the encore. They re-emerged carrying the LGBTQ flag alongside the Tennessee state flag, the American flag, and the United Kingdom flag. The final segment of the evening included the chaotic energy of “Helter Skelter,” the meta-classic “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” and the medley from Abbey Road that frequently serves as McCartney’s closing number: “Golden Slumbers,” “The Weight,” and “The End.” The musicians harmonized the final sentiment of the night, singing, “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
