Ringo Starr celebrated his 86th birthday at Beverly Gardens Park in Los Angeles alongside several rock stars and hundreds of fans.

As we all know, the annual celebration begins minutes before noon. Prior to the celebration, the band The Texans, led by Molly Tuttle—who played on Ringo’s last two country albums—performed, playing ‘Drive My Car’ and ‘Octopus’s Garden,’ among others.

While taking the stage to continue the tradition that dates back to 2008, Ringo said: “It’s Los Angeles. I love Los Angeles, I love the light, and we are pretty much guaranteed a beautiful day like today. We started in Chicago with like 40 people. We gave the crowd little cupcakes and by 8 p.m. that night they were on the Internet being sold for a grand.”

Ringo posed next to the 800-pound stainless steel “Peace and Love” statue that he donated to the city before cutting his birthday cake.

Family members and musician friends joined in to sing happy birthday; T-Bone Burnett, drummer Jim Keltner, actor Ed Begley Jr. and his wife, Steve Lukather, Warren Ham, Gregg Bissonette, Colin Hay, Sarah Jarosz, Colin Linden, Zak Starkey, Steve Jordan, Don Randi, his curator Gary Astridge, and presenter Chris Carter, along with Barbara Bach, sang “Happy Birthday” and the “Peace and Love” (message) to everyone.

After the cake was cut, Ringo and Barbara departed, being greeted by the press and the fans who attended.
