​This date marked the seventeenth performance by The Beatles at the Majestic Ballroom in Birkenhead, and it was also their concluding concert engagement of 1962.

​The group delivered two separate performances that evening. The initial show was a standard scheduled appearance, while the latter was a celebratory event honoring The Beatles for their victory in the yearly Mersey Beat poll, recognizing them as the most favored musical ensemble.

​The tribute event commenced at midnight, with The Beatles ultimately taking the stage at 4:00 AM to bring the night to a close. They secured the Mersey Beat poll’s coveted award for the top “beat act” for the second consecutive year.

​Furthermore, the late-night show included a performance by Lee Curtis and the All-Stars, who played directly preceding The Beatles. Notably, the drummer for the All-Stars was Pete Best, whom The Beatles had dismissed from the band in August of the same year (1962).
