THE BEATLES UNVEIL RARE 'I've Just Seen a Face' RECORDING AHEAD OF "ANTHOLOGY 4"

The legendary Beatles are offering a sneak peek of their forthcoming release, Anthology 4, with the debut of a previously unheard version of the Help! favorite, “I’ve Just Seen a Face.”

This newly surfaced recording, dubbed “Take 3,” was captured at Abbey Road Studios’ Studio Two on June 14, 1965. It provides a raw snapshot of the Fab Four in the studio as they worked on the track. While the final version that appeared on the Help! album was built on the sixth and final take, this rollicking third attempt offers fans a glimpse into the song’s development.

The “I’ve Just Seen a Face (Take 3)” track kicks off with candid studio chatter, including John Lennon joking that skiffle artist Lonnie Donegan would regret missing out on the song. It even captures a brief moment where Lennon misses his entry cue as the music begins.

Scheduled for release on November 21, the Anthology 4 collection contains 36 tracks in total, with 13 being outtakes and demos that have never been officially released before. The music will be complemented by a revamped and expanded edition of The Beatles’ Anthology documentary, which will premiere as a nine-part series on Disney+ on November 26.
