In April 1971, exactly one year after the breakup of The Beatles was made official and shattered the hearts of millions of fans around the world, popular music history recorded an unprecedented and poetic phenomenon.

During that memorable week, the British hit chart witnessed the simultaneous presence of all four former band members competing as solo artists with their respective singles.

Far from overshadowing one another or fading into obscurity after the split, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr demonstrated an overwhelming creative vitality, occupying the charts at the same time as independent, yet inevitably intertwined, creators.

George Harrison led the way with the sweeping spiritual success of  ‘My Sweet Lord‘; taken from his acclaimed triple album All Things Must Pass, which continued to reap the rewards of its position at the top of the rankings.

At the same time, Paul McCartney established himself in the top spots with his debut solo single, ‘Another Day’ a melodious, everyday portrait produced alongside his wife Linda.

For his part, John Lennon broke through with the powerful political and activist anthem ‘Power to the People’ ; released with The Plastic Ono Band, while Ringo Starr completed with the debut of his unforgettable ‘It Don’t Come Easy’ a track produced by George Harrison himself that climbed rapidly among the best-sellers.

That convergence on the charts in April 17, 1971 was not merely an unprecedented statistical curiosity for the recording industry, but a definitive confirmation of the cultural weight of four individuals who, even after fragmenting the greatest band in history, continued to define the sound of an entire generation from four different corners.
