14th PAROLE DENIAL FOR JOHN LENNON's KILLER

In August of last year, the individual received a 20-year to life sentence. Just recently, he made another attempt to be released from prison.

The state’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision stated that the 70-year-old, who was convicted of murder, had a hearing with the parole board on August 27. However, his request for release was turned down. The official record of this recent hearing is not accessible at this time.

In a 2022 hearing, M.D.Chapman, admitted his actions were “evil” and that he acted alone. He stated, “I am not going to blame anything else or anybody else for bringing me there. I knew what I was doing, and I knew it was evil, I knew it was wrong, but I wanted the fame so much that I was willing to give everything and take a human life.”

Chapman had traveled from Hawaii to New York to commit the murder. Hours before the shooting, Lennon had signed a copy of his new album, Double Fantasy, for Chapman. In 2012, he confessed he had a moment of hesitation before the murder. He said, “It wasn’t all totally cold-blooded, but most of it was. I did try to tell myself to leave. I’ve got the album, take it home, show my wife, everything will be fine. But I was so compelled to commit that murder that nothing would have dragged me away from that building.”

The parole board denied Chapman’s release in 2022, citing that the murder of the “Imagine” singer had left “the world recovering from the void of which you created.” He is currently incarcerated at Green Haven Correctional Facility in New York and will be eligible for parole again in February 2027.

Dan Richter, John Lennon’s former personal assistant from 1969 to 1973, believes a lack of security led to Lennon’s death. Richter told the Daily Telegraph that Lennon should not have used the main door of his apartment building. “That door was a danger point. You can identify and avoid that. And there was a side door he could have used,” Richter said.

Richter also recalled a frightening incident when he accompanied Lennon to a meeting with Bob Dylan at the Plaza Hotel in New York. Richter, who was checking the area for safety, became terrified when a man quickly approached them with his hand in his pocket. “I thought I was going to die,” Richter said. It turned out the man was hotel security. Richter added, “Then I realised Bob was standing there all the time, totally unnoticed, in camouflage fatigues, laughing.”
