A venue steeped in Liverpool music history is set to expand in to a new location.
The Jacaranda Club has been a staple of Liverpool’s music scene since the 1950s, with many local bands playing their first gig there to this day. In 1960 John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best played their first show together at the venue, which was the band’s first under the name The Beatles.
Located on Slater Street, it remains a popular spot in Liverpool’s nightlife scene. Now, 65 years after it first opened, a new Jacaranda is opening this month.
Located in the Baltic Triangle, the new venue will have a record shop and performance area with a 400 person capacity. The record store, the latest iteration of the Jacaranda brand, will stock a curated mix of local and international artist’s new releases, along with all the classic albums you expect to find.
The launch of the project in the Baltic Triangle also marks the start of a new era for the original Jacaranda. The first floor of the world famous bar has had a full refurbishment to transform it into the city centre home of Jacaranda Records.

The shop at The Jacaranda will be open seven days a week from 10am until 6pm, while the Baltic shop will be open Thursday to Sunday from 10am until 6pm.
Graham Stanley, managing director at Jacaranda, said: “The Jacaranda Baltic project is definitely the most ambitious thing we’ve done as a business. We’ve tried to put Jacaranda DNA in every fixture, corner and brick of the new premises.”
The Jacaranda Baltic record store is set to open its doors for the first time on Friday, January 12 at 10am.
