Fender’s master builders in Corona, California, have meticulously recreated one of the most iconic instruments in Beatles history: George Harrison’s vintage Sunburst Bass VI.

Gifted to the group by Fender back in 1968, this distinct six-string bass rapidly became a secret weapon during their defining Abbey Road studio sessions. Beyond its famous cameo in the classic “Hey Jude” promotional video, its deep, punchy tone drove legendary tracks such as “Helter Skelter,” “Back in the U.S.S.R.,” “Let It Be,” “Rocky Raccoon,” “Birthday,” and “Honey Pie.”

To capture the soul of the original piece, the Custom Shop went to great lengths on the specs. The guitar features a period-correct 3A bound rosewood fingerboard set on a maple neck, paired with a hand-selected two-piece alder body.

True to Harrison’s setup, it sports a 30-inch scale length, a vintage-style 7.25-inch radius, 21 retro frets, signature block inlays, and individual slide switches for each pickup.

No detail was spared in honoring this musical relic. The tribute model showcases a Relic-aged 3-Color Sunburst finish that mirrors years of natural wear, complete with hand-engraved markings on the switch plate and custom hand-wound Jaguar pickups to faithfully reproduce that signature late-60s sound.

Unlike the iconic Rosewood Telecaster or the Epiphone Casino, the Bass VI offered a unique tonal bridge between the guitar and the conventional bass, allowing the band to explore deeper, heavier textures in key late-1960s productions.
