Mary Hopkin asserts that handwritten Paul McCartney lyrics appearing in a forthcoming auction were “stolen” from her possession. The Welsh musician has publicly stated that several items, notably including these rare drafts, are being sold without her consent.

The auction lot centers on the original lyrics for the track “Goodbye,” penned by McCartney in 1969 specifically for Hopkin.
This piece of history is currently slated for the Propstore Auction’s Music Memorabilia Live Auction – London Spring 2026.
This specific collection, scheduled to go live on April 30, carries an estimated value ranging from £55,000 to £110,000.
Beyond the lyrics, the lot also encompasses a vintage award from 1969 and various promotional artifacts from that era.
