A driver’s license belonging to Paul McCartney from his time with The Beatles in the 1960s was recently put up for sale and commanded a price exceeding £15,000.

The memorabilia item was successfully sold yesterday (Thursday) at Ewbank’s Auctions, located in Send, close to Woking, for a total of £15,600, which includes additional fees. This final price significantly surpassed the initial valuation, which had been set between £800 and £1,200.

This classic-style license was a prominent piece in the Music Memorabilia sale. It is described as a red cloth-covered board and was presented inside a red pouch from ‘Cartier International Services‘.

The historical document specifies his full name and residence as Mr. James Paul McCartney, 7 Cavendish Avenue St. Johns Wood NW8, and covers the period from September 24, 1968, to September 23, 1971. It also features McCartney’s original autograph, rendered in blue felt pen.

Furthermore, the reverse side of the license contains two pages that document past convictions and associated fines, with incidents noted in Bath on May 11, 1969, and in Coventry on February 7, 1968, according to the auctioneers.
