The live music world is bidding farewell to one of its most cherished and respected backstage figures. Paul “Swanny” Swan, a long-serving member of Paul McCartney‘s touring crew—renowned for holding down his station on stage right—passed away in August 2026 following a brave battle with cancer.
The news has deeply resonated with the close-knit touring family that brings these legendary shows to life. Crew members, technicians, and industry colleagues have taken to social media to share heartfelt tributes, remembering him not only for his unwavering professionalism, but for his signature quiet wit, warmth, and the indelible legacy he leaves behind after decades on the road.
Paul Swan worked as a Monitor Systems Engineer for Paul McCartney‘s technical crew. He joined the musician’s tours on a permanent basis around 2011, racking up 15 years of shared history on the road before his passing this month.
