Film ‘Late Night Line-Up: Abbey Road’ has restored . The long-lost 1969 BBC television special Late Night Line-Up: Abbey Road, featuring custom-made visual accompaniment for the Beatles’ album, was rediscovered in the Netherlands by archival experts Dig Media and restored for a public screening at the British Film Institute. Broadcast on BBC2 on September 19, 1969, just a week before Abbey Road hit stores.

The Beatles allowed the arts program Late Night Line-Up to listen to the unreleased master tapes and pair each track with custom-cut visuals, creating an early predecessor to the music video format. Like many broadcasts of that era, the master tape was wiped by the BBC shortly after airing and remained missing for over five decades.

Archival organization Dig Media located a surviving off-air recording in Amsterdam that suffered from tape tearing and severe visual degradation. Experts painstakingly cleaned, enhanced, and reconstructed the footage to make the historic broadcast viewable again.

The newly restored program made its landmark debut at the British Film Institute during their “Missing, Believed Wiped” event in London .
