Joy Hall, the cellist who was the first woman to play on a track by The Beatles. She was part of “Strawberry Fields Forever,” one of the band’s most recognized songs, in which the strings play a fundamental role.
After being the pioneer, she was followed by the harpist Sheila Bromberg, who was called in for “She’s Leaving Home.” While neither of them achieved the mass appeal and popularity of The Beatles, they could pride themselves on having broken with the male hermeticism that characterized one of the greatest bands in history and, in general, the music industry of the time.
